About Mr. Mahoney
I was born in Chicago, but grew up in Chicago Ridge. After graduating from Richards High School, I attended Bradley University and received a BA degree in History/Secondary education. I taught for 9 years in Calumet Park, before coming to District 128 in 2003. I've earned two masters degrees in Educational Administration and Political and Justice Studies. In 2022, I plan to begin course work for an MA in History. In 2010, I was honored to be named Illinois History Teacher of the Year. Outside of school, I am an adjunct professor of American History at Governors State University and an adjunct professor of education at Trinity Christian College. I enjoy spending time with my wife, who is also a teacher, reading and watching/playing sports. In the fall we cheer on our favorite teams, Notre Dame, the Cubs and the Bears.
In 2019, Mr. Janotta and I wrote a book called Teaching Illinois History. It is being used by several school districts across the state (www.jmeducational.com)
